Listening in my mind

I spend quite some time daydreaming during a work week while travelling on public transportation or during other times when I have to wait for something to happen alone. Many times, I call up a tune/melody/drum beat loop in my mind, 50% its from memory and 50% its all creativity and new.

After this certain sample loops around in my silent mind I get bored an start to think about "What makes this tunes so good?" or many times "What could make this song even better". And then I start to analyse. I break it down, and go over the whole thing from "Is the bass hearable?" "Are the mids and highs balanced and evened out in frequency?" "Is there enouh dynamics and transients in the beginning of drum hits and the melody?" "Are the instruments evenly mixed?" And by these questions I usually find the problem of the song that needs to be fixed. But MY problem is: that I can't fix it. :-D

Because somebody already finished this song, and had released it, and I can do a "remix" on it, but can't throw back the tune to the manufacturer and say: "Hey, the trumpets are too loud, fix it!". It would be nice though.
