Knobs and faders

I really like control boards with a bunch of buttons, meters, knobs and faders. Especially when they look good.

I think that sometimes I choose a VST plugin to work with just because I like how it's controlling things and the visual feedback it can give me from the sounds it produces. I don't like plugins that are full of a lot of controls. I like the ones which have like 1-2 knobs and a meter that gives some visual feedback on the functionality.

Here are some examples of some graphical user interfaces (GUIs) that I find frustrating and troublesome:

Listening in my mind

I spend quite some time daydreaming during a work week while travelling on public transportation or during other times when I have to wait for something to happen alone. Many times, I call up a tune/melody/drum beat loop in my mind, 50% its from memory and 50% its all creativity and new.

After this certain sample loops around in my silent mind I get bored an start to think about "What makes this tunes so good?" or many times "What could make this song even better". And then I start to analyse. I break it down, and go over the whole thing from "Is the bass hearable?" "Are the mids and highs balanced and evened out in frequency?" "Is there enouh dynamics and transients in the beginning of drum hits and the melody?" "Are the instruments evenly mixed?" And by these questions I usually find the problem of the song that needs to be fixed. But MY problem is: that I can't fix it. :-D

Because somebody already finished this song, and had released it, and I can do a "remix" on it, but can't throw back the tune to the manufacturer and say: "Hey, the trumpets are too loud, fix it!". It would be nice though.

Songs I'd never release

Here are two songs I'd never finish to release rightfully, so I put them here in the blog for only the hardcore fans to enjoy. "Why haven't you come" ALWAYS makes me want to laugh at hearing my own voice. And "Das auto" is just - brutal and doesn't make any sense. Well that COULD be acceptable honestly, but these songs are just too annoying for me or boring to continue working on, so here they are, and judge them yourself!

Convergence singles

Hi!

As you ight have noticed, the newest singles on YouTube like "Time (Remix)", "Will We Be Ready" and "Panorama Mongolia" are not on the latest album titled "Break The Limit" which is downloadable from www.sonicentropy.hu. This is because there is a new album coming out, full with fresh techy-style Sonic Entropy tunes!

You might miss my more melodical and acoustical melodies, but they are still here! They are just queued after Convergence. Probably I will stop making more full-legth albums for a while because I think it is more fun to mix up styles and be fresh and put out a single or EP more frequently without any theme at all. I wonder what your opinions are about this!

Cheers,
Peter (aka Sonic Entropy)
